Many of the criticism I see on the other reviews are from people who didn’t have the patience to learn what Swedish people call “intuitive”. Although it’s true (imo) that all it’s flaws belong in the firmware. The readings on the app. and those on the screen never match. There’s a “reading” on the application that tells the air quality OUTSIDE your house 😂. I don’t buy it. I purchased this model recommended by CR. Pros: I think it does filter the air, it’s also sensitive to changes in the air quality, and it’s mostly silent. Cons: all the cited above plus there most be other brands that do the same for less money. Update: I’m getting tired of babysitting this thing. It disconnects frequently from the WiFi and it’s a PAIN to reconnect it. My sincere advice for the engineer designers, forget the WiFi thing all together and make ALL the controls manually operated.

This is an amazing air purifier! The auto feature is a set it and forget it type thing! It will remind you via the app on your phone when you need to replace the air filter even! 5 of out of 5 stars all day!

This is very well made air purifier with advanced features. The light indicator is very helpful so we know when to get fresh air. The wifi setting with phone app is high tech. I set timer for my humidifier to turn on and turn off at a certain time. Love it

I have a few other Blueair purifiers, and the new 7470i seemed about right for my bedroom. I’m not sure how it would compare with other brands on objective tests, but subjectively its performance seems excellent. It’s very quiet on the lowest setting — I can barely hear the air flow, and the motor not at all. Moreover, my usual fall allergies are in check. It’s amazing what filtered air can do, at least for some of us. I would give it five stars but there are annoyances. First, out of the box there’s a bright blue LED light that provides information about air quality. The all-clear signal is blue — the machine runs with a bright blue bar under normal conditions, maybe ten times brighter than any other appliance LED I’ve ever seen. Other Blueair purifiers display a little blue button when they’re on, which is annoying enough, but this thing — I can practically read by it. How can it be an accident that Blueair’s engineers chose a blue running light even though blue is the best color known to science for preventing sleep? No other color comes close. That’s why many screens (cell phones, tablets) have settings for blue light abatement. So, that’s one star down. The other star is for making it impossible to easily adjust the intensity of the display light. I read that you can change display settings if you install the bluetooth/WiFi app. I managed to do so after about an hour of tech tinkering. But then there’s still no way to adjust the light. The only setting that I could change was Celsius vs. Fahrenheit. I looked on BlueAir’s customer support web site, and amazingly enough, all references to the HealthProtect machine have been pulled. HealthProtect? No, we don’t make that. Never heard of it. Must be somebody else’s machine. Have you tried IQ Air? And you get a 404 Error if you try to find BlueAir’s information about the HealthProtect on the web. But even if the link is eventually reinstated, I don’t understand why you have to install an app on a cell phone and link your machine to it in order to simply dim a light. Maybe they have reliable WiFi in Sweden, but here in the states, lots of places have lousy WiFi, with glitches and crashes. And, by the way, who are these people who need to have everything in their lives controlled by a cell phone app? Can’t they just get up, walk across the room, and adjust a knob? Are their fingers numb? Are their cell phone operating systems stable? Does their bluetooth actually work? It’s all the more annoying that you have to set up an account with BlueAir corporate when connecting the HealthProtect to your cell phone (so that they can frag you with product announcements or gather data about your behavior?). All just to dim a light that, undimmed, will shift your body clock to high noon permanently. Right now I have an old towel lying across the top of the machine. So much for Swedish design elegance. I’ll probably invest in some kind of LED attenuating adhesive plastic, or just put a strip of tape over it. Anyway, it’s basically a great machine that seems to clear the air very well, but I think that the engineers geeked out over the controls, and currently there is no visible sign of support.

This purifier seems to really be helping with our allergies. I had originally put in my review that it was noisy, but we changed how it was positioned and now the high end of the cycle isn’t noisy! Hopefully we didn’t dissuade someone from buying it because of our first review!

Setup was fairly simple although the detailed setup instructions don’t indicate the exterior wrapping for the air filter has to be removed (it ships already installed).
There was a tab sticking out of the device indicating the wrapping needed to be removed — but the instructions including the quick guide just say to plug it in and turn it on.
The physical device interface and the interface on the app are complex as a lot of real time and historical usage data is displayed. Many weeks later I’m still somewhat confused.
When opening the app and looking at the device data log there is a long pause for the data to refresh and display. Until you learn to wait for the refresh, you might not see accurate real time data.
The device monitors air quality and then automatically sets the fan speed. The fan speed impacts how fast the filter is used up.
Running the filter for 5 minutes on high speed fan (max speed) used 1% of the filter life. Allowing the device to Auto set the fan speed results a much longer life expectancy of the filter.
The filter runs very silently and auto sets the fan speed based on real time sensor data. For example of located near a kitchen it will detect when you’re cooking and run the fan art a higher speed until the air is cleaner.
I use the app on an Android 6 Pro

It is highly rated by Consumers Reports for durability. quietness, and ease of use. It is heavy and cumbersome to move. It is a device to move to its place and leave at that place. Easy to understand controls are a plus. An app to monitor and control can be downloaded from the App Store. Connecting the app to the purifier was not easy because a successful connection is not obvious. Buttons to connect additional devices remain dominate during setup. Later, connected devices show on the main page.

Worth every dollar. No more cat allergies, no more sparkly dust in sunbeams. No more lingering cooking odors. Love the app, love that I can turn the lights down on it, love that I can set it to turn on before I get home, Love that it looks modern and sleek. I can not say enough good. On auto I don’t even have to think about turning it up or down.
